About me
Making a big life change is pretty scary,
but, know what's even scarier?

Ciao tutti!
My name is Nele
I am living since since June 2016 in Parma, Italy.
Parma lies between Milan and Bologna and is a very pretty provincial city. The city center is very cosy and compact and there is a limited traffic ('traffico limitato') zone, which creates a very easy and peaceful atmosphere. The easiest way of exploring the city is on foot or by bike.

The climate is very pleasant with a lot of sun during the whole year. Spring is my favorite season. In that period it is sunny, dry and not too hot. During summer it can be very hot and humid (between 35 - 40 degrees). The high humidity is caused by the fact that Parma is situated in the Po valley. A Flemish girl who is used to the North-European climate may suffer in these temperatures and sometimes wants to escape to the mountains nearby.

At this moment I take a 'sabbatical' break in my life. Some may describe sabbatical as: 'temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance'. In the meantime I work as a freelancer for a Belgian publisher and I enjoy being a 'casalinga' or 'housewife' (not a 'desperate one' though) in Italy. Actually, I have the time and the opportunity to discover new things in life, try out Italian recipes, distress the Belgian traffic, etc..

As I am very fortunate to host friends and family who are eager to explore the city and do some sightseeing the regio,
I decided to share my experiences in this blog. Do you want to visit this beautiful region and do you want to discover some nice places who are not mentioned in de travel guides, then you will enjoy reading this blog.
