Life as it is....
'Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire'
My husband and I are living as expats in Parma since June 2016. We are doing efforts to integrate in the Italian community by taking Italian lessons among others. Everybody is always talking about how important it is to integrate in the country where you live in as an expat. However, we realize that - at the end - it is not that easy to integrate quickly.
Italian is a beautiful language, una 'lingua cantate' but not that easy to learn. I long for a fluent conversation with Italians, but my vocabulary is still too limited to have in depth conversations. I made all sorts of realy embarrassing mistakes (and I still do) but I learned from my mistakes and at the end I could laugh with these funny situations.
We do not regret that we moved to Italy. It's very interesting to meet new people and explore new cultures. But on the other hand I have definitely gone through my own personal ups and downs adjusting to a new way of living in Italy.
